How to swap the immobiliser chip from a faulty remote to a new remote

Use a small screwdriver to slide the remote part from the key

Remote removed from the key

Look for the little glass eye shown below

Very carefully slide the glass tube from the original remote

This glass tube is the immobiliser chip, this chip starts the car

Put this glass tube in to the new remote.

Follow the remote programming instructions for the new remote.

  1. INSERT ANY KEY INTO IGNITION
  1. TURN IGNITION SWITCH FROM POSITON 1 TO POSITION II, 4 TIMES WITHIN 6 SECONDS, FINISHING AT POSITION 1, THE SYSTEM WILL CHIME / BLEEP
  1. WITHIN 10 SECONDS PRESS AND HOLD ANY BUTTON ON THE REMOTE KEY FOB, THE SYSTEM WILL CHIME / BLEEP WITHIN 10 SECONDS PRESS BUTTON ON ANY OTHER REMOTE TO BE PROGRAMMED.
  1. TURN IGNITION TO POSITION II FOR 10 SECONDS
  1. TURN IGNITON OFF AND REMOVE KEYS
  1. TEST REMOTE KEY FOB

 

 

N.B.
Ford remote key fobs are sometimes reffered to as Ford plips, Ford zappers, remotes, remote plips or remote zappers.
All of these common phrases can be used to describe a Ford remote key fob.
